Check Out David Byrne's Rack(s)
|
If you’re in New York City, you may ask yourself, who made that automobile shaped bike rack? Well, the answer is Talking Heads frontman-turned-artist David Byrne.
On the heels of his “Playing the Building” installation in downtown Manhattan, the singer has designed nine bike racks throughout the city, catering each one to the neighborhood where it resides. The rack by the Lincoln Tunnel, called "The Jersey", is in the shape of a car, while the one on Wall Street looks like a dollar sign.

Now that his racks are up, Byrne is set to tour. He kicks off a trek across the world on September 16th in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
