Jeff Ament Solo Album
|
In just over a week, Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament will release his first solo album, Tone, which is an accumulation of ten years worth of songs the rocker never tried to put on a Pearl Jam record.
Ament spoke to Billboard about the process, explaining, “It just got to a point where I had to clean off the shelf a little bit. I broke this group of 35 songs into three groups and decided to finish one of them.” Tone hits shelves on the 16th and will only be available on CD as part of a one-time-only pressing of three-thousand copies.
Jeff says he may play some solo gigs eventually, but before then, in the fall, he’ll head to the studio to work on Pearl Jam’s latest record. The band already has five or six instrumental beds finished and hopes to knock out an album this winter. Jeff went on to reveal, “The goal is to know the songs front to back before we actually record them, which we haven’t always done.”
