Davis, Tankian Remember Dimebag

There is no doubt that Daryl “Dimebag” Abbott made a huge impact in the world of rock while on this planet. The guitarist, who was murdered on stage back in 2004, is being remembered by his peers who loved the metal god dearly.

RolingStone.com spoke to Jonathan Davis of Korn, who says, “The first time I ever saw them live, before Korn was even signed, me and Fieldy went, and it was Pantera and Sepultura at Irving Meadows in LA. They came out, started the first song, the curtain dropped, and me and Fieldy just started crying. We looked at each other and we had tears in our eyes because it was so f***ing intense and heavy and sick.”

System of a Down man Serj Tankian remembers, “What they were doing was very special, to a point where my parents, who are not into any rock or metal or any type of heavy music, really got them. I was blown away.”

Rockers Honor Dimebag
At Ozzfest over the weekend, some big names got together to honor the late guitarist who was killed onstage at a Damageplan show in late 2004.

Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta and Slayer’s Kerry King took on “Mouth for War”, then King Diamond and Soulfly’s Max Cavalera joined Anthrax’s Scott Ian for “A New Level”.

Other tracks included an acoustic cover of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” headed by Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains and a version of “F***ing Hostile” with Metallica’s Kirk Hammett and Hellyeah’s Chad Gray.

According to Rolling Stone, pictures and video footage of "Dimebag" ran on the two giant screens behind the stage as the musicians played his music and the other tunes.

They've sold millions of records, and influenced several generations of fans and musicians. So why isn't Kiss in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? That said, it?s been a long time since I?ve actually listened to any early-era Radiohead, but I recently discovered this fantastic live recording of Scala & Kolacny Brothers doing a beautifully sullen piano and voice rendition of Radiohead?s ubiquitous 1993 single.
