Metallica To Offer Coffin Box

Metallica recently announced the plethora of different ways (CD, digital, vinyl) for fans to get their latest album, Death Magnetic, when it comes out this September.

Yesterday, they announced one other way to get the record... in a coffin. The band has now confirmed a special collector’s edition package for the disc, which comes in a coffin box. Along with Death Magnetic, the set also includes a CD with demos of the songs, a making-of-the-album DVD, an exclusive T-shirt, a flag, guitar picks, a poster and a collector’s credit card embossed with a code to redeem a free download of a special European show happening in September.

The band is still finishing up the artwork for the special package and will post pictures once they are done.

The coffin box will only be available at the group’s official Web sites: Metallica.com and MissionMetallica.com.

A post on their site says: "Let's just say that perhaps, just maybe, if you've already mastered 'One' on GHIII there might be a pile of 'Tallica songs in your future."

More details as they become available.

Puppets Vinyl Pushed Back
The release date has been moved back to July 15, 2008 in North America, July 7, 2008 in most of the rest of the world.
