Alright, I just saw an NFL Network ad with Morrissey's "Everyday Is like Sunday" being sung by a rather upbeat, country music meathead and not the Moz man himself because, well, I guess they found him to be a bit of a downer while they're trying to promote their offer for more NFL games, not just on Sunday. See what they did there?
Morrissey - Everyday Is Like Sunday
So I got into a discussion about when it's OK, in a fan's eyes, for a musician to "sell out" and license their music to a corporation in order for them to sell more products. More-so, when do fans have a legitimate right to bitch and moan about someone else singing one of their favorite songs (or a muzak arrangement), again, for the purpose of selling more of whatever it is they say we need this week? Lastly, do fans even get to complain at all?
Crappy screenshot of the end of the commercial.
I know, it's awesome. You're welcome.
I say there should be no complaining and you should shut your trap. You didn't make that song. Morrissey did... and he did it with American football games and his longing to get more of them, right on his television or home-computer, fresh in mind.
Personally, when I think of giant sweaty men in tight pants beating the living hell out of each other, the soundtrack is more Your Arsenal, "Someone On Your Side", "Tommorrow" oriented. "Ahhh the pain in my arms, the pain in my legs"...know what I mean?
So as all of you Morrissey/football fans watch your games this year and get your panties in a bunch because Moz has sold his soul, you can remember that "the strange dust that lands on your hands (and on your face)" is just some powdered green envy and it wont get all over your precious music collection. Unless they decide to use that Tori Amos song that you lost your virginity to for the next Super Bowl. You remember the one, Sissy.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a clip of the ad online so i could just be lying to you.
Liam Gallagher Disses Coldplay
While Chris Martin says he's a big Oasis fan and that Coldplay would be willing to open for the Manchester group, the feeling isn't mutual for Liam Gallagher.
Kiss unhappy about rock hall of fame exclusion
They've sold millions of records, and influenced several generations of fans and musicians. So why isn't Kiss in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? "There are disco bands, rap bands, Yiddish folk song bands in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but not Kiss," the band's outspoken frontman said during a speech at the Billboard Touring Conference
How Axl Rose Spent All That Time
?Chinese Democracy? is the Titanic ship of rock albums: It?s outsize, lavish, obsessive, technologically advanced and, all too clearly, the end of an era.
The 20 Dumbest Band Names of All Time
#12 - Boyz II Men -- Everyone loves some ?Motownphilly,? but the creativity behind this group?s name is just plain stupid. What was Michael Bivins smoking when he decided to allow the Philadelphia legends to release R&B records under one of the worst play on words ever?
60 Belgian Women Sing Radiohead's Creep (Listen)
That said, it?s been a long time since I?ve actually listened to any early-era Radiohead, but I recently discovered this fantastic live recording of Scala & Kolacny Brothers doing a beautifully sullen piano and voice rendition of Radiohead?s ubiquitous 1993 single. The cluster of sixty something Belgian women focus primarily on minimalist...
