Nikki Sixx To Be Honored
The Covenant House California will honor Nikki Sixx at their ninth annual Awards Gala next week. The organization, which helps homeless youth, will pay tribute to the Motley Crue bassist for his successful 25-year long career.

Sixx was homeless by age 16 and turned to vandalism, thievery and drugs before pursuing rock and roll, and eventually becoming not only a musician and a songwriter, but a producer, clothing designer, label head and father of four. The Awards Gala takes place on May 9th and will feature a live and silent auction as well as entertainment by John Cassese, Los Angeles’ renowned Dance Doctor.

Sixx Talks About How The Crue Is
As Motley Crue readies their latest album, Saints of Los Angeles, it seems that the band has overcome some of the troubles they faced recently. You’ll remember last September, the group sued Tommy Lee’s then manager, Carl Stubner, for trying to “divert revenue” from the Crue and for mismanaging the drummer’s solo career to the point that it harmed the band’s reputation.

According to Blabbermouth.net, bassist Nikki Sixx spoke about how the Crue is now, stating, “Everything’s cool.” Sixx went on to explain, “A guy named Carl Stubner, who works for Sanctuary Records, did some bad stuff. He was held accountable. He’s Tommy’s personal manager, and Tommy was hurt about that. But the bottom line is Motley Crue comes first.” Sixx added, “We’re a gang – not this guy who did bad stuff to Motley Crue. So he was sued. He settled, and I think Tommy woke up and saw the light.”

Canadian Councilman Is Anti-Crue
Even though a member of the band has spoken at the White House, one politician in a Canadian city doesn’t want Motley Crue performing in their town. A city councilman in Sarnia, Ontario feels that the Crue’s off-stage antics are “pornographic” and could harm the city’s image so he doesn’t want the band playing on city-owned property during the town’s Sarnia Bayfest music festival. The other city council members did not support Councilman Dave Boushy’s motion to ban the band from the July 10th event, citing that they did not want to become a censor board for outdoor events. Meanwhile, the London Free Press reports that the organizer of Bayfest lashed out against the politician, stating, “[Bassist] Nikki Sixx can speak in Washington, but Boushy says he shouldn’t come to Sarnia? If you know nothing about the band, how can you judge them?” Fans agreed, flooding Web sites in support of the Crue.

The group is still set to play Bayfest. +1 to the fans!
