This past Tuesday night in New York City, Pearl Jam raised three-million dollars for charity.
Billboard reports that they did so through a private concert at New York’s Beacon Theatre and all proceeds from the event went to the Robin Hood Foundation, which raises money for poverty fighting initiatives.
Wait, didn’t Robin Hood steal from the rich and give to the poor? That seems like it’s a bit more dangerous than strumming a guitar and singing pretty songs. But Robin did have a band of merry men. So, perhaps Robin Hood started the world’s first rock band.
Anyway, as you’d expect, the band also used their platform to get political, as singer Eddie Vedder criticized the Bush administration AGAIN and told the audience that the next time Pearl Jam played New York, a new President would be in office.
