Perry Farrell is the brainchild behind what the Lollapalooza festival is today. It’s a three day event full of music, food and culture at Grant Park in Chicago, IL. One would think that such an undertaking would be a hassle, but Farrell looks at it a different way.
"Well you know, believe it or not, the concept is very simple. It’s a party. So, you’re putting together a party and the party has to have good music and a good sound system.”
Will Obama Turn Up At Lollapalooza?
There are rumors that hometown hero and presidential candidate Barack Obama may turn up at the event, and according to Perry, it’s all just hearsay for now. He tells MTV News, “That’s definitely been the rumor, and it’s been coming from their camp, so I really can’t confirm that at all. I positively cannot confirm that. There are definitely no guarantees. You’ll just have to settle on listening to great music.”
Barak Obama turns 47 on Monday. Which means he's still young enough to crowd surf and jump in the mosh pit. Now that I think about that, how awesome would it be if we get some footage of Barack jamming out to Rage? I think that just might help out with our little Iran problem.
Jane’s Addiction To Reunite For Lolla 2009?
Fans are often left wondering if and when Jane’s Addiction would reunite to play the annual summer event.
Perry tells MTV News, “You know how somebody can just get under your skin and things can just become just unlivable? I go through that process, but let me tell you this... When I think about the party and I think about the aftereffects, it may be worth it. It may be worth it. But don't hold me to it. It's one of those things, man. I have a fantastic life, and as much as I'd love to have Jane's in my life, I know there's a window. We should try, shouldn't we? We're all still able to kick ass.”
Some of the bands that are playing Lollapalooza this weekend are Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Gnarls Barkley, The Raconteurs and more.
You've still got time to make it out there if you start hitch hiking right now.
